Where are the Emirates bassinet seats?

Table of Contents - Click to jump to a section

These are located at the bulkhead positions – meaning the partition between a cabin, galley or toilet section of an aircraft.  A bulkhead seat offers slightly more legroom, so is a desirable seat. The photo below shows the 4 small holes on the bulkhead wall, where two bassinets can fit.

However, on some seats the armrest is solid and immovable (this is where the tray table is stowed) which can be a bit uncomfortable if your baby is lying on you.

All baggage at a bulkhead position MUST be stowed away for taxi, take-off and landing.

What is the Emirates bassinet size?

The baby bassinets in First class are 63.5 cm long and 28 cm wide (25 in x 11 in), while they are 74.93 long x 33.03 cm wide x 16.51 cm deep (29.5 in x 13 in x 5 in) in Business Class and Economy Class. Please note that bassinets are limited in number and subject to availability. Remember that you can't request a bassinet if you have booked a normal seat on child's fare rates.

The Emirates bassinet weight limit is 11kg kilograms (24.2lb pounds). To compare with other airlines bassinet measurements, see here.

Note the Emirates website does state, "Whilst our bassinets are designed for babies up to two years old, we won't be able to provide one if your baby doesn't fit safely. Please note bassinets are limited in number and subject to availability."

How do I request an Emirates bassinet?

After you make a booking and have your booking reference details, you have a couple of options:

  • You can request a baby bassinet in the Passenger Details section on the Emirates website or
  • By calling your local Emirates office.

I'm on a codeshare flight, who should I request the bassinet with?

This should always be done through the airline operated the flight. e.g the actual airline you will physically be flying with.

Is there a charge for requesting the bassinet seat?

No. Bassinet seats on Emirates may be requested, free of charge, by adults travelling with infants.

Is the Emirates bassinet in Economy class the same as the bassinet in business class?

Yes, although depending on aircraft type them may be installed slightly differently in business class. e.g on newer B777, you need to remove th magazine rack to install the bassinet. Crew will do this for you. Emirates have bassinets on their A380 and B777 fleet.
